Camper Registration & New Registration Guidelines

The 2012 Camper Registration Forms are now available! We have held weekly camper tuition the same - $330 for registrations received by May 1st and $365 for registrations received after May 1st.

With the increase in our camper numbers the past few years, and the fact that two to three weeks close every summer, the MDSC Board of Trustees revised our camper registration guidelines to make sure that we reduce the number of children who wind up on waiting lists or are unable to come to camp because of lack of space.

Starting this summer, all campers who are interested in attending two weeks of camp must list their first choice and second choice. For approximately the first month after camper applications have been released (through April 12th), MDSC will accept campers for the first choice week only, based on the date the application is received and on available camper group space for that week. If a camper has asked to attend camp for two weeks, the second choice week will be added to a waiting list. After April 12th, we will begin accepting campers for their second preferred week based on date of application and remaining available camper group space. We make no guarantees that everyone will receive their first choice week, but the goal is to allow as many campers as possible to be accepted for at least one week of camp. The Board believes that its more important for all interested campers to be accepted for at least one week of camp before others are accepted for two weeks. Our goal is to have as many youth as possible attend MDSC each summer.

2012 Staff Applications

The 2012 Staff Applications are now available. All staff candidates should fully complete the application, including 3 references (one must be the parish priest with his signature on the application) and return it by mid-April. We will continue to accept staff applications until all positions are filled, but we recommend staff turn in their application as soon as possible before their first choice of week(s) is filled. We were unable to do the electronic PDF version this year, so staff will need to write out the application.

We are accepting applications for all salaried six-week positions: Program Directors, Waterfront Directors, Arts & Crafts Director, Orthodox Life Director and Media Director. In addition, we need 12 Counselors, 2-4 certified Lifeguards and 1-2 Health Directors per week. Lastly, we accept Counselors-in-Training (CITs) for each week.

2012 MDSC Dates Announced

The MDSC Board of Trustees has approved the following dates for our 2012 camp season:

Week 0: June 24 - June 30, 2012
Week 1: July 1 - July 7, 2012
Week 2: July 8 - July 14, 2012
Week 3: July 15 - July 21, 2012
Week 4: July 22 - July 28, 2012
Week 5: July 29 - August 4, 2012

Camper registration packets and staff applications will be available starting in February 2012. Keep checking back on our website for more information.

MDSC has moved to a new Facebook page. Originally, our Facebook page was set up as a "Group", but the group was shut down under Facebook's new formats.
