Future Plans

MDSC has now been around for more than 55 years, although the campgrounds and many buildings (the Lodge, Cabins 2, 3, 7, 8, and 10) have been around even longer (built by the former camp owners). Other structures, although "younger" than 55 years, are showing signs of wear and tear. In addition, the camp has grown over the years and how we use our buildings has changed. In order to ensure that our camp buildings last for at least another 55 years for future campers and staff, we have been considering the facilities improvements/additions we need to make now and in the near future.

Funding For Future Plans

Part of the remodeling costs of the Suzie and the initial Phase I chapel designs are being covered by money set aside in savings by the Board of Trustees. Final costs of the Suzie remodeling and Chapel design/construction have not been determined yet, but will need to be raised through other sources as follows:

Donations - from parish organizations, Hellenic organizations and from our alumni, staff, camper families and camp friends will be needed. Please consider donating whatever you can to help MDSC. Future Fundraising Events - our recent Auction was a huge success, but we will need additional fundraising events to raise all the necessary funds. We are tentatively planning a Reverse Raffle Dinner Event for late 2008 or early 2009. More information will be made available when this is finalized.

This is an exciting time for MDSC, as we continue to move our camp forward in the 21st century. We hope you will be able to help us to achieve these future goals so we can continuing providing our youth with the faith, friendship and fun for which MDSC has always been known!
