Staff recruitment begins in January of each year, when applications for the 6-Week Director positions for those who are interested in Counseling, Lifeguard, Cook or CIT positions. Interviews for 6-week Directors take place and positions offered before acceptances are provided to candidates for Counselor, Lifeguard, CIT or other positions. MDSC will accept staff candidates who meet the qualifications for the positions on a rolling basis until all positions are filled. The earlier the online staff application is received, the more likely you will receive your first choice of week(s).
All staff candidates are fully screened according to State Licensing Requirements and the policies set forth by the Archdiocese of America’s Youth Protection Program. This includes required recommendations by the staff candidate’s parish priest, a full criminal background check and interviews. In addition, all staff are required to complete a Youth Protection Program training and sign a Code of Conduct and Staff Pledge. Staff are required to fully read the MDSC Staff Handbook prior to arriving at camp. Lastly, all staff are required to attend the full staff orientation usually held at camp on the Saturday evening prior to each week they are at camp.
